High court refuse bail application for Malkit Singh. Sikh Legal Assistance Board continue to represent Malkit Singh and are currently in the process of instructing Supreme Court lawyers to challenge the decision.


Update: 25 July 2020


Malkit Singh has been incarcerated in the Jail Hospital in Amritsar since September 2019, we have submitted bail applications on medical grounds at NIA special court in Mohali and the Punjab & Haryana High Court, however both have been dismissed. We have just been informed by the family, Malkit has contracted TB and tested positive for Covid19.


We have instructed a Supreme Court lawyer to progress bail application at the Supreme Court.


Update: 21 August 2020


Malkit Singh who suffers from Type 1 diabetes and was recently diagnosed as positive for Covid-19 and also contracted TB whilst in prison has had his bail application dismissed in the Supreme Court.


Malkit Singh has had no medical treatment for several months and today's decision at the Supreme Court is pushing him towards death.

Update: 24 August 2020


Malkit Singh, an application has been submitted at Mohali, NIA special court, seeking directions for the treatment of Malkit Singh or to grant permission to allow for his treatment to be conducted in a Private Hospital.


Update: 8 September 2020


Malkit Singh has had his Covid-19 test done at Guru Nanak Hospital Amritsar and his treatment for TB is also being carried out there. We thank the Sangat for their goodwishes and blessing and hope that Malkit Singh makes a swift recovery.


Update: 15 December 2020


Our legal team have successfully petitioned the Punjab & Haryana High Court for Malkit Singh’s (Shera) medical treatment. The Court have granted the petition to set up a medical panel to examine Malkit Singh and provide the treatment required.
